Back in 2020, I took my first-ever trip to California. During my stay I made my way out to Chinatown. I was in one of the shops reading a pamphlet on my Chinese zodiac year, The Year of The Tiger, when a store owner came up and starting talking to me. He ended up schooling me on some ill knowledge about how the calendar works, and what it signifies. Since then, I’ve been really looking forward to this year and to commemorate, I decided to put together a record of the same name.

This joint was made over the Summer/Fall of 2021. During that time, I had the opportunity to meet a lot of dope people from Texas and to perform my music for people all over the state. It was a motivating experience, and I think this album captures many of the feelings I walked away from those experiences with very well. It features a variety of styles and is full of triumphant, chill and soulful vibes, perfect for ringing in a new year of aspirations and goals.
